The Archives hold a wide range of manuscripts, photographs and maps relating to the Museum's specimen collections, and several archives from some of the most notable naturalists in English history, including William Smith, William Buckland, John Phillips and J O Westwood. The majority of the collection represents the professional work of those associated with the Museum and/or the University around the period 1830–90. The Archives also include material related the history of the Museum and its building.
Please note that from Monday 13th to Friday 31st May the Museum Library and Archive will be closed for an essential lighting upgrade. All services will resume as normal from 1st June.
