Hire the Museum

Dinner under the dinosaurs, drinks with the dodo; the Museum of Natural History is a unique venue for dining, conferences, receptions and meetings.

The stunning Victorian neo-Gothic building was built in 1860 as a museum and research centre. The University's world-class natural history collections are housed beneath the spectacular and highly decorative ironwork roof, surrounded by elaborate stonework and sculptures.

With a 300-capacity theatre, several breakout rooms, a beautiful gallery and a large open central court, this unique venue offers the perfect location for your events. Exclusive hire is available in the evenings, and we cater for conferences, meetings and filming in various spaces during the day.

The Main Court of the Museum will be transformed in 2020, with the large showcases replaced and beautiful new displays installed. During this exciting work, we will keep events running in the Museum with no disruption, though displays and spaces may look a little different to usual. The events team will discuss the plans with you at the time of your booking.
